Introduction to Montreal - Longueuil
The suburb of Longueuil is an important part of the Montreal Greater Metropolitan Area, which happens to be the largest metropolitan city in the province of Quebec. More than 220,000 residents call this suburb home, and its popularity is largely due to the fact that it is just across the St Lawrence River from downtown Montreal, directly to the south. Although most visitors tend to stay in the middle of downtown Montreal, Longueuil hotels offer a comfortable alternative. There aren't as many attractions here as in the downtown area of Montreal; however, visitors can still find a few landmarks that are worth discovering. St Helen's Island, which stands in the middle of the St Lawrence River, not to mention its amusement park (Marina La Ronde), can be reached in no time at all from the suburb. There are two beautiful golf courses in the township, Parcours des Cerf and Saint Lambert Golf Course. In the northwestern part of the suburb is the large and relaxing Michel-Chartrand Park. The town of Longueuil is also home to Montreal Saint Hubert Airport, the 12th busiest air facility in Canada.Visit our Montreal Travel Guide
