Parks and woodlands are the main attractions of Miramachi which brings fishermen and anglers from all over North America to the river of the same name and the many lakes in the Miramachi Valley. Foxes, coyotes and minks live in the wild here as do porcupines, muskrats, beavers and skunks. The local weasel is well known. Miramachi hotels are often low rise wooden establishments that blend in visually with the surroundings and which have a light impact on the pristine natural environment. The woodland caribou roam freely and are often spotted grazing in the grasses and lawns out front of some hotels in Miramachi. This is not a particularly busy urban area but is instead a gentle and green natural area where outdoor activities and sports like fishing and rowing are the order of the day. Some Miramachi hotels are sports resorts with enclosed lakes and all kinds of heavy sporting goods for hire such as kayaks.
