Introduction to Kitchener, Canada

Formerly known as the Town of Berlin and the the City of Berlin until 1916, Kitchener is a city in Ontario, Canada with a metropolitan population of around a half a million people. There is a very strong German base to migrant culture here and even a lot of Kitchener hotels will look like beer halls or Tudor style manors. This is never more true than during the annual nine day Oktoberfest which is based on the German original. The largest Bavarian festival outside of Germany attracts beer lovers and partygoers from all over Canada and other countries, especially Germany.
