Introduction to Halifax - Airport
Halifax Stanfield International Airport is located in the community of Enfield, Nova Scotia, but serves much of the wider region. More than three and a half million passengers use the airport each year, making it one of the busiest hubs in Canada. The facility's original terminal opened in 1960, but has undergone significant renovations in that time, including expansions and the addition of amenities such as Halifax Airport hotels. Many of the flights are operated by Air Canada, which even runs a direct route from London Heathrow. Alternatively, there are seasonal flights from London-Gatwick, operated by Thomas Cook International and Air Transat. The airport is around 21 miles from the city centre by hire car. These can be arranged from any of the six suppliers on the ground floor of the Airport Parkade. To get here, arriving passengers should just follow the signs from the arrivals hall.
