Edmundston is a city located in the Appalachian Mountains, at the confluence of the Madawaska and St John Rivers, in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. Edmundston is sandwiched into the north western corner of the province between Quebec and the US State of Maine. Hotels in Edmundston are scattered around the city, with a central cluster on Boulevard Herbert close to the River Madawaska. These Edmundston hotels are near to restaurants, fast food outlets, boutiques and cultural attractions. The early 19th century Fort du Petit-Sault is on a hill overlooking the city. Edmundston is across from the Maine town of Madawaska to which it is linked by a river bridge. Hotels in Edmundston provide a perfect base for visiting the ski resort at Mont Farlagne or New Brunswick Botanical Gardens. Mont Farlagne offers skiing for beginners and advanced skiers as well as snowboarding. The botanical gardens contain more than 80,000 species of plants, a butterfly collection and a dining facility.
