Introduction to Edmonton - Edmonton South
Edmonton is among Canada's largest and most significant cities. It is the capital of Alberta, and unofficially known as the capital of Canada's Prairie region. The Edmonton South region is by far the largest area of the city, and incorporates many of the city's historical residential areas from the 1940s through to the 1960s. Edmonton International Airport is found about 15kms further south from the southern region of the city so most international and domestic travellers pass through this district during their journey to the central area. Nevertheless, Edmonton South hotels are in abundance and remain popular because of their close proximity to the airport and the CBD. The most famous attraction in the area is Fort Edmonton Park, which is a living museum on the south bank of the North Saskatchewan River boasting streets and structures that depict life during early Edmonton. Nature lovers will fall in love with John Janzen's Nature Centre, which is just a few kilometres from the historical park. Visit our Edmonton Travel Guide
