Introduction to Edmonton - Airport
Edmonton Airport is the primary air hub for both passenger and cargo flights in Canada's Alberta province. Located 16kms to the southwest of the city, it's Canada's biggest main airport, handling six million passengers a year on domestic and international routes. The budget airline WestJet is the largest operator, accounting for 50 per cent of the total market share. Flag carrier Air Canada also operates from the facility, together with Continental, Delta, United and the UK charter holiday airline Thomas Cook. The airport's single terminal deals efficiently with all passenger movements and provides the usual in-house facilities including bars, restaurants and coffee shops, duty free outlets and shops, banking and post office services, internet access and various VIP lounges. Ground transportation to the city and beyond is by hire car, taxi or shuttle bus, with a selection of Edmonton Airport hotels located adjacent to the complex on major roads.
