Introduction to Vidin, Bulgaria
Vidin is a port town on the River Danube, in the northwest corner of Bulgaria, facing Romania. The point where the borders of Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia meet is around 40kms up the Danube from Vidin. The medieval Baba Vida Castle, located close to the left bank of the river, is the most famous landmark and there is an eclectic choice of accommodation and hotels in Vidin located within the environs of the castle. The town's other ancient fortress, Kaleto, is nearby. Hotels here are within walking distance of the railway station as well as the town's eating and drinking venues, which offer traditional Bulgarian food and drink. Vidin's riverside park provides a place to relax and enjoy the views.
