Introduction to Velingrad - City Centre
Velingrad is a city in the southwest of Bulgaria, in the Rhodope Mountains region of the country. Its position in the Bulgarian highlands has led to its popularity as a bathing, or balneological, resort. Hotels in Velingrad can be found in the city centre, as even the centre of town contains a number of springs and resorts. The city remains busy throughout the year, so it is important to make reservations before arriving. Apart from the geothermal springs and the treatment resorts, there isn’t an awful lot to see and do in the city. But most visitors to the town come for the natural spring treatments, which number at more than 90, rather than the sights. Getting into Velingrad is usually done through the train system or bus connections between the city and Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital city.
