Introduction to Sandanski, Bulgaria
Sandanski is a town on the River Sandanska Bistritsa, in the southwest quarter of Bulgaria. It is situated in a valley at the base of the Pirin mountain range. It was allegedly the birthplace of the slave, Spartacus. The region has garnered a reputation as a health and rejuvenation centre due to its temperate climate, pollution-free air and thermal springs and as such, there is now a good choice of hotels in Sandanski. A lot of lodgings offer accommodation combined with health packages that include jacuzzis, pools and spas. Many properties are dotted around the town near to traditional Bulgarian restaurants and cosy bars as well as the central streets in the region, where visitors will find al fresco cafes, boutiques and handicraft shops.
