Introduction to Pamporovo, Bulgaria
Pamporovo is a town 1,600 metres above sea level in southern Bulgaria’s Rhodope Mountains. It is set in pristine pine forests and although it offers year round outdoor activities, it receives most of its visitors in the winter months. Pamporovo’s cross-country ski runs, ski slopes and ski based infrastructure ensure it is never short of tourist arrivals. There is a wide choice of Pamporovo hotels in the city. Hotels in Pamporovo are scattered around the resort; some are in the town and others in natural locations in the forests close to the ski lifts at Smolyan Lake. Central Pamporovo hotels are close to apres-ski venues. There are a number of restaurants serving traditional Bavarian fare, and cosy little taverns. Other activities aside from skiing include archery. There is also an indoor swimming pool and a sauna in the town. In summer, trekking through the district is a popular activity. The forests are full of wild flowers and berries.
