Introduction to Sao Paulo - Bom Retiro
Bom Retiro is one of many districts in the sprawling Brazilian city of Sao Paulo. This district is the main commercial area of the city and a great place to use as a base from which to explore Sao Paulo. Bom Retiro hotels are located just off Av. Do Estado, the main motorway in the city. Historically, Bom Retiro was home to immigrants who came to Sao Paulo. Visitors can still explore the original Italian and Jewish communities and the more modern Chinese and Bolivian neighborhoods. A fun outing is to the Museum of the Portuguese Language, housed in the beautiful Estacao da Luz building. Many forget that Portuguese is the first language of Brazil, not Spanish. The most popular weekend hangout for locals is Jardim da Luz. This park used to be a botanical garden and still has beautiful trees and vegetation, and is home to some great sculpture installations as well.Visit our Sao Paulo Travel Guide
