Introduction to Rio de Janeiro - Barra da Tijuca Beach
Barra da Tijuca is located in the West Zone of Brazil's most famous city, Rio de Janeiro. It is one of Rio's fastest growing districts, with a number of venues offering entertainment to local residents as well as visiting tourists. There is a 10-mile long beach here, popular with surfers as well as those who just want to enjoy the magnificent sunsets. Those without any surfing experience can join one of the beach's surf schools, where instructors can speak English. Barra da Tijuca Beach hotels are among the most luxurious in the city. As such, the area is considered to be fairly safe at night compared to other parts of Rio. However, it makes sense to take all the usual precautions when exploring the district. Unsurprisingly, the beach gets particularly crowded at weekends so those looking for a peaceful visit might like to come during the week instead.
