Introduction to Porto Alegre, Brazil
Porto Alegre is a large cultural and economic city in southern Brazil.

The region, which translates as happy port, is located at the mouth of the River Guaiba, north of where it flows into Lagoa dos Patos.

There is a diverse choice of hotels in Porto Alegre.

A lot of the establishments are in the city centre area between Farrhoupilha Park and the riverside.

The Rio Grande do Sul Museum of Art and Joaquim Jose Felizardo Museum are just two of the many cultural draws within walking distance of the central of the properties.

The art museum is housed in an ornate structure crowned by a lofty tower.

It contains innumerable artworks by both leading Brazilian artists and 19th century European masters.

It hosts a number of annual events including the Porto Verao Alegre, Farroupilha Week and the Alfandega Square Bookfair.

Restaurants in the area serve anything from rice to German or Italian cuisine.
