Introduction to Paraty, Brazil
Paraty is a well preserved colonial town on Brazil's Costa Verde (Green Coast). The region is on Brazil's Atlantic shore, midway between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. It can be reached from either of these cities on the BR-101 coastal road. There is a good choice of Paraty hotels providing services to the increasing number of annual visitors. Many of the establishments are close to Avenue Roberto Silveira, which runs up from the town pier and the Centro Historico past the Casa da Cultura Paraty. Among the many remnants of the Portuguese colonial age are Forte Patitiba and Forte Defensor. A further selection of accommodations is on the coastal road heading northwards facing out on to Ilha Grande Bay. The bay, as its name implies, contains several stately islands. Inland from Paraty are lofty mountains, waterfalls and dense rainforest. Serra da Bocaina National Park is one of several in the district around the town.other spellings: paratyhotels, paraty otel, paraty hotell, paraty hote, paraty hotes
