Manaus is a city located at the confluence of the Solimoes and Negro rivers in northern Brazil. These rivers flow into the mighty River Amazon. It has a number of historical and cultural draws and is a hub for river cruises. Hotels in Manaus are located around the central port area. The properties offer a good layover point for travellers on the riverboats. Boats sailing from Belem, on the Amazon's Atlantic coast estuary, take five days to reach the region.
