Introduction to Joinville, Brazil
Joinville is a modern, affluent city in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. It is a regional culture centre and has plentiful German architecture. Some of the country's best beaches are east of the area. There are a number of hotels in Joinville which offer a comfortable base for enjoying the region's attractions. A central grouping of the properties is in the environs of Avenue Getulio Vargas, one of the main thoroughfares running through the city centre. These establishments are within walking distance of the Museum of Immigration and Colonization, and Mueller Shopping Centre. The city centre has an eclectic choice of eateries, ranging from international fast food outlets to establishments serving chocolate flavoured pizzas. North of the centre, a small hill on Rua Saguacu offers panoramic views of the vicinity and its surroundings. There is a little zoo, housing indigenous animals, at the foot of the hill. The district hosts the world renowned Joinville Dance Festival every July.
