The city of Jaragua do Sul is on the River Itapocu in the southern Brazilian Santa Catarina State. It is in a valley ringed by mountains and is around 60kms inland from the country's Atlantic coastline. The city receives relatively cold winters with temperatures dropping down to 10°C. There is a good choice of hotels in Jaragua do Sul. A central grouping of establishments is located on the south side of the river in the environs of Rua Presidente Epitacio Pessoa. This street is in the centre of the city's shopping and dining establishments. Breithaupt Shopping Centre is nearby and holds a good selection of shops, and a cinema. The district hosts the annual Schutzenfest in October. The lodgings are a good base for exploring the wonderful scenery in the surrounding region or the beaches close to Joinville, on the coast. Joinville itself features numerous examples of classic German architecture, museums, a zoo and botanic gardens.
