Introduction to Brasilia - Beach
The modern, planned city of Brasilia, Brazil's capital, is literally a masterpiece of modernist city design and architecture. Unsurprisingly, it is now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Begun in 1956 and located in the country's Central Highlands, the urban area is make up of streets in the shape of a bird in flight, ornamented by a huge manmade lake stretching around the borders and giving an extensive leisure area as well as humidifying the atmosphere. Brasilia Beach hotels are mostly set along the lakeshore. Perhaps the most famous Post Modern structure is the cathedral, almost wigwam-shaped in its simplicity, and the stern geometric beauty of the Palace of Justice is relieved by waterfalls cascading down its facade. The soaring bridge over the lake is another triumph of Post Modernism, with the Ecological Park on the lakeshore a great place to wander. The city has a thriving contemporary arts scene, with regular exhibitions and events. Although it's not quite there yet as regards cultural development, Brasilia is a fascinating place to visit.other spellings: blasiliahotels, blasilia otel, braselia hotell, braselia hote, braselia hotes
