Belgium Travel Guide - Introduction
The country is small enough to travel around by road or train making touring easy and an attractive prospect. From Brussels, visitors can reach many of the country’s major cities in around an hour or less and even faster by rail.
There are no domestic air services as there is no requirement for them; Brussels International Airport is the only significant airport in the country and is the means by which many international visitors arrive in the country. From European countries, Belgium is also highly accessible by train or bus services and of course by private or rental vehicle.
In Bruges meanwhile, a historic medieval atmosphere prevails and the pleasant pedestrianised city centre provides ample opportunity for visitors to explore its charming streets which are home to shops, restaurants, museums and galleries. A similarly historic city, Antwerp, is also well worth a visit with its neo-Renaissance villas, art nouveau mansions and medieval castles.
Belgium is well used to receiving visitors and has a good tourist infrastructure which includes some excellent accommodation options in all of its most popular visitor cities.
