Metro: the city’s underground rail network is relatively limited with only three lines, but rides are cheap and interchangeable with other modes of transport including the bus lines run by operator STIB-MIVB. An overland service covering the city outskirts linking up with other train services is planned soon.
Tram: nearly 20 tram routs zigzag Brussels, offering a system based on every hour of service used, not on the number of changes. This is a great way to see the city on the cheap but services can get very busy during peak times.
Bus: with routes complementing the tram service, the bus network also represents a cheap and convenient mode of transport, with tickets that are interchangeable with the metro system.
Boat: as a canal city, boat tours can drop visitors from A to B, but represent a slow, expensive way to get around when time and money is of the essence.
