Ars Musica: a contemporary music festival mixing established performers with new acts from across the continent. Originating from 1989, this festival kicks of the European spring and summer music festival circuit every March, lasting around three weeks but sometimes longer. More than 30 events are offered across the country to the public, most of which take place in Brussels.

Art Brussels: this April event showcases contemporary talent from across Belgium and is now regarded as being one of the main art expos for up-and-coming artists.

Zinneke Parade: held every two years in May, the Zinneke parade is quite unlike anything else you have seen before. Featuring artistic performances, music, parades and much more, this event sports some of the most bizarre costumes you will ever see.

Although it only started in 2000, the Zinneke Parade has already developed a cult following courtesy of its anything goes attitude and is certainly a show not to be missed for those that get the chance.
June/July Festivals
Brussels-on-Sea: the summer sees the Brussels’ canal-side transformed into a sandy beach complete with deckchairs and a number of themes every year designed to improve relaxation and the general well-being of all residents and visitors to the Belgian capital. Entrance is free for this month-long event, usually starting in June or July.

July Festivals
Ommegang Pageant: tracing its history back 650 years, this medieval festival sees parades, events and entertainment at the beginning of July every year. In its original days, the Ommegang Pageant was a religious festival prior to its current form, which is based on the show put on for various European kings and queens in the middle of the 16th century.
