Brugge (Bruges) Travel Guide
No trip to Bruges would be complete without mussels and chips, a popular lunchtime meal or snack usually eaten with mayonnaise. Waterzooi, a chicken broth, is another tasty local dish. Along with mussels, Bruges is blessed with all manner of fresh seafood thanks to its proximity to the port of Zeebrugge. Prawns and herring straight out of the North Sea are especially abundant in the restaurants around the city.
Those with a sweet tooth will no doubt revel in the various chocolate-related offerings throughout the city. French-style waffles with various toppings, including chocolate sauce and locally-made jams are also extremely popular as a snack.
For those that like to stick to what they know, Bruges is home to the usual crop of American fast food restaurants and burger joints, most of which are considerably cheaper than the local fare.
