Introduction to Ghent, Belgium
In medieval times Ghent was an extremely wealthy city and in excess of 900 listed buildings go some way to demonstrating this. The same can be said of the mix of hotels in Ghent that range from the opulent to the more fundamental. Historic places of interest abound here and the Three Towers of Ghent, St Bavo's Cathedral, St Nicholas Church and the Belfry are all worth visiting. Like the many hotels in Ghent the contemporary sits comfortably alongside the old and modern sights include the Municipal Museum of Contemporary Art, where highly original exhibitions can be viewed. At night, after the sun sets, the city is illuminated making a truly spectacular scene. There are some unusual things to see and do here and whichever of the Ghent hotels you choose; a visit to At Dulle Griet in Vrijdagmarkt 50, where ale is served in elaborate wooden vases after you give a shoe as collateral, is another must.other spellings: ghenthotels, hotell gent, otel in gent, jent hote, ghent hotle
