Genval is a former municipality of Belgium's Walonia region, which along with Rosieres now forms the better-known municipality of Rixensart. Tourist activity here centres on its most famous attraction, Genval-les-Bains. This is a well-visited beauty spot which hosts a century-old lake and fountain sitting among a wooded area, restaurants and houses. The restaurants are romantically located on the shores of the lake, meaning they are great places to enjoy the sunset on a clear day. Walking and cycling around the lake are among other popular activities. Guests staying at Genval hotels also have the opportunity to visit the Water and Fountain Museum, where visitors can learn how water distribution has been developed over the years. The museum is located next to the lake, on Avenue Hoover. The municipality is just 18 miles from Brussels by road, but most travellers get here by train.
