Introduction to Brussels - Saint Josse
The commune of Saint Josse is a cosmopolitan district of the Belgian capital of Brussels. It is located around one kilometre north of the city's illustrious Grand Place and its Flemish architecture and gargoyles. Although the centre can be easily walked to from the commune, there are two metro stations, Madou and Botanique, which offer transport to locations farther afield. The district's Theatre de la Vie on Rue Traversiere offers an eclectic programme of both traditional and modern classics. The Speelgoedmuseum, near Botanique metro station, is a facility dedicated to toys, with various working models, soldier displays and a playroom. Saint Josse hotels are all close to cafés, bars and restaurants. The bars mostly stock a full range of famed Belgian beers, while eateries serve up steaks and delicacies such as mussels and garlic. The Gare du Nord railway station is situated on the north side of the district and has services to various parts of the country. The Museum of Spontaneous Art is located close to the station and has unusual exhibits, with abstract and primitive art featuring prominently.Visit our Brussels Travel Guide
