Located in the Barbadian parish of Christ Church is Oistins Bay. This traditional fishing village lies to the southeast of Carlisle Bay, near the southernmost point of the island. With the village built around its fishing culture, it's not surprising that Oistins Bay offers its visitors an insight into the trade. There is a modern fishing market where an abundance of fresh local produce is sold, and it is possible to see the fishing boats and view the local fishermen weaving their nets. There is even an annual fish festival that honours those who have made an outstanding contribution to the fishing industry in the area. The Fish-Fry every Friday and Saturday is an opportunity to sample the best of the local seafood, with numerous vendors to select from; this twice-weekly event is particularly popular among the locals. There are also some excellent beaches in the bay area, with Miami Beach being among the most popular and the best for swimming.
