Introduction to Dhaka - City Centre
The vast metropolis of Dhaka is Bangladesh's capital as well as its largest city, and home to around 12 million people. Guests staying at Dhaka City Centre hotels are often overwhelmed by the crowded, chaotic capital, but those who scratch below the sometimes ugly surface will uncover some truly remarkable attractions. The city centre, Motijheel, borders the Buriganga River and is easily traversed using any of the 400,000 rickshaws that service the metropolis. This commercial zone is home to the Bangladesh National Museum and a campus of the University of Dhaka, among other attractions. The National Museum houses a whale's tongue and a statue of a Bengal tiger along with other interesting draws. In fact, visitors will find something of interest, from mosques to forts, around virtually every corner of the central district. The 17th century Mughal Lalbagh Fort and its museum sit just to the southwest and are worth visiting. Air entry to the city is via Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. other spellings: daka otel, dhaca hotell, dhakar hote, dakha hotles, dhakha hotle, dhaga hotes
