Bus: buses in the Bahraini capital are mostly headed out of the city to other destinations on the main island. However, getting a bus to reach the airport or to visit areas just outside the city is possible if you can understand the network which most tourists don’t seem able to do – getting a timetable or network map is tricky. Ask at your hotel or at a tour operator for the latest information.
Taxi: getting a cab in Manama is mot overly expensive if you manage to avoid getting hoodwinked by the driver. Fares should not be more than four dinar anywhere in the city so if you’re asked for more it is likely you are being overcharged. Taxis are supposed to use meters but try to escape doing so and thus passengers have to stand their ground to get them switched on.
