Introduction to Budaiya, Bahrain

On the dreamy coast of Bahrain is the town of Budaiya, arguably the most fertile spot on the island thanks to a wealth of freshwater springs. It’s this oasis-like atmosphere right on the beach that makes the town such a pleasant place to escape to on holiday. Wild palm trees provide shade in the otherwise barren desert environment of Bahrain, and a stroll along the central Budaiya Road will quickly attest to the benefits of shade in the desert. Western expats have discovered this lovely little spot, helping to build a diverse scene of places to eat and shop in town. Many Budaiya hotels are located along the main street, from where most draws are a short walk as the town is quite compact. There isn’t much in the way of cultural attractions here, but the beach is clean and calm, and a solid selection of recreation activities are available, including horseback riding and sailing. The big city of Manama is just minutes away, with tons of things to see and do here.
