Located upon the Meridien Highway towards the southern end of Eleuthera Island is the Bahamian town of Rock Sound. It is also a bay that is located directly west of the town and welcomes many thousands of bathers each year. The town is home to a few thousand people, but there are usually many more people walking around town as tourism is popular here. Rock Sound hotels come in a range of styles and prices for all types of travellers. One of the most appealing features of the town is the Rock Sound Ocean Hole, which is located about a kilometre from the centre. Here, visitors can swim in this massive limestone ocean hole or stay to the side and feed the beautiful fish that swim to the surface. Snorkelling and swimming along the beachfront areas of the town are popular, too. There is an airport situated in the northern reaches of the town which is one of three airports serving the island of Eleuthera.
