Introduction to Long Island, Bahamas

Even though only 4,000 people live permanently on the island, Long Island is one of the most attractive and therefore most explored districts in the Bahamas. It is situated to the southeast of the Bahamas' main island, south of Cat Island and northwest of Crooked Island. The island is aptly named for its lengthy geographical landmass, and is invisibly divided into two by the Tropic of Cancer. Clarence Town is the capital city of the island, but there are many other places to visit when touring this getaway. Long Island hotels are consistently busy with travellers from across the globe. One of the most attractive sights on the island is Cape Santa Maria Beach, which has repeatedly been voted as among the world's best beaches. There are plenty of dive sites at the island, including the world famous Dean's Blue Hole for free divers.
