Vienna boasts a rich culture and history that stretches back to the early Celts and Romans to the incredibly wealthy and powerful Habsburgs. It has gathered up a magnificent array of iconic landmarks and attractions along the way, including world famous museums and galleries, awesome buildings and numerous family-friendly activities
Most of the best attractions are contained within the city centre and are easy to navigate while a fast and efficient public transport network whisks visitors between sights and districts effortlessly. The Viennese are friendly, eager to help, and speak a modicum of English, although well ordered streets and clear signs are usually enough to negate the need to ask for directions.
The best time to visit Vienna is somewhere between May and September, apart from July and August, which is the busiest and hottest time.
The weather is still fine in May, June, and September, while many will want to visit in the winter during Christmas when the city is at its most beautiful and the ski slopes of the Alps are open. Festivals and events are happening all the time throughout the year so it doesn’t really matter when you visit to experience that party atmosphere.
