Walking/biking: if you are only interested in seeing the main sights, getting about on foot is the best mode of transport as many major attractions are located within the inner city (Innere Stadt), which is largely pedestrianised. In addition, Vienna is a bicycle-friendly city with more than 400 miles of cycle paths in and around town.
Road: driving within the city limits is both difficult and time consuming, owing to the many one-way systems in place, congestion, and tough and expensive parking. It is much better to stick to public transport if you plan on staying within the city centre.
Taxi: taxis are expensive in Vienna and are no quicker than using the public transport network, apart from far off destinations or when going to the airport at an early hour. Taxis are metered and are very clean.
