Burgenland: is the easternmost province of Austria and is a beautiful region of the country. It borders Hungary to the south and was once a part of it before WWI until the province’s people decided to join Austria.
Lake Neusiedl is Burgenland’s main attraction; a huge steppe lake located in the centre of the province which extends south into Hungary and is the centre of activities in the province during the summer. Eisenstadt is the region’s capital and one-time home composer, Joseph Haydn, and is only a few miles from the A3 motorway.
Lower/Upper Austria: lower Austria encompasses five districts; each of which offers unique and rewarding features to the visitor, to include dense woods and awesome mountains. The Vienna Woods, or Wienerwald, surround Vienna and are ideal for day explorations for families and singles.
There are also many interesting villages in Lower Austria where historical churches, monasteries, and abbeys abound and vineyards fill the hillsides. The district of Alpine Lower Austria, towards the south of Vienna, offers stark mountains of up to 7,000 feet and some good skiing.
