Ski jumping: the wooded Bergisel Hill is a brand-new yet world-renowned Bergisel Ski Jump in Innstruck that offers stunning views of the city below and majestic Alpine mountains behind. At 47 metres tall, the tower is equipped with new facilities that hold up to 28,000 spectators. Advanced ski jumpers can join an annual Four Hills Tournament in January and a Summer Grand Prix Jumping Event.
Shopping: to the delight of active shoppers, Innsbruck offers many shopping areas where you can find all sorts of unusual local and international goodies. The Old Town provides a wide range of local culinary souvenirs while the city centre is packed with brand name boutiques and modern shops with an urban atmosphere.
Skiing: when snow starts to fall, Innsbruck turns into a winter wonderland and is an ideal destination for ski enthusiasts. In winter, the Nordpark offers various ski routes. Most of them are steep and provide magnificent views of the moutains and the city.
The Nordpark is also famous as one of the most ambitious mountainbike freeride routes in Europe – the Nordpark Singletrail. Another place to visit is Patscherkofelbahn or ‘Olympiaexpress’, a skiing region south of Innsbruck that excites skiers with several timbered ski-runs of the former olympia-routes. People also come here in summer for hiking.
Sport: during the summer, holidaymakers can visit Badesee Rossau for a swim and head to the leisure centre Baggersee where you can enjoy an array of sports such as open-air chess, basketball, football, table tennis, beach volleyball and a huge playground. An extensive park opens until late in summertime.
Park: Alpenpark Karwendel is where you can discover wonderful nature at its best. Home to a variety of local fauna and flora, the park is one of the oldest connected trans-national protected areas of the world. Other notable parks include the Hofgarten with its gorgeous English garden and the Botanical garden where you find more than 5,000 speicies of plants from different climates around the world. Swarovski Crystal World: a hidden sanctuary inside a hill for luxury lovers, the Swarovski Crystal World unveils a fantasy world of crystal found by Daniel Swarovski. Since its opening in 1995, millions of visitors have come here to witness many glamourous chambers inside the giant head with glittery eyes.
Walking inside, you will find a waterfall, a long wall of crystals of various kinds and visit the Crystal Theatre where the fascinating stories of the world of colour, mystery and moments of success are shown.
