Introduction to Vienna - Favoriten
Located to the south of the city centre, the district of Favoriten is one of the less affluent areas of Vienna. The main reason visitors come here is to use Sudbahnhof train station, which will soon be the central station of the city. There is one attraction here of historical importance, the Spinnerin Am Kreuz, which is a piety column erected to honour the story of a wife who would weave in the area while waiting for her husband to return from the Crusades - he did indeed return long after everyone thought he had died. Vienna's only thermal spa, which tourists can use to relax in or help cure physical conditions such as rheumatism, is in this part of the city. In the deep south of Vienna Favoriten, there are vineyards and wineries where visitors can sample wine. Favoriten hotels are usually budget affairs, especially around the train station.Visit our Vienna Travel Guide
