Strassen is a small village of 900 people in the Tyrol region of western Austria. The village is located in the centre of the Osttirol Mountains, meaning that it is a popular base for the groups of outdoors enthusiasts who visit each year. Strassen hotels offer easy access to nearby areas offering cycling, mountaineering and hiking, among other activities. Bicycles can be hired from hotels, while masseurs are employed to help guests relax before dinner. Dining in the village is first-class; guests will have the chance to enjoy the finest Tyrolean cuisine in the local restaurants. Lodgings in Strassen tend to have a traditional feel, which has been sadly lost by some of the bigger resorts. In fact, some of the village accommodation is so old that travellers used to get here by horse and carriage. Nowadays, many travellers fly to Innsbruck and then hire a car on arrival. The village is around 95 miles southeast of Innsbruck Airport.
