Introduction to Silz, Austria
Silz is an Austrian village of around 2,500 people, located in Tyrol's Upper Inn Valley. The village is located on the banks of the Inn River, halfway between Telfs and Imst. There is easy access to the village from Innsbruck Airport, just 20 miles away. From Innsbruck, travellers with their own vehicle can take the convenient Inntal Autobahn (A12) to the village centre. Most guests who stay at Silz hotels are skiers visiting the nearby slopes at Kuhtai. Some of this accommodation even offers complimentary bus transport to the slopes. The village's accommodation does a decent summer trade as Inn River rafting is popular at this time. In fact, river rafting is considered to be one of the village's biggest earners. Other summer visitors include cyclists who are completing the Inntal route.
