Introduction to Serfaus, Austria
Serfaus is a small village in the Tyrol region of western Austria. Serfaus hotels are mostly used as bases for visiting the nearby skiing area, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis. In fact, this area is considered to be one of the most popular skiing areas in the region. The resort's pistes cover an area stretching for nearly 120 miles. There is a decent apres-ski scene in the village, with bars and restaurants offering great food and drink as well as traditional Tyrolean music. Cable cars and gondolas depart for the slopes from stations at the end of the village's main street. There is a car park at the other end of the street that is connected to the stations by a unique underground train system which is free of charge. This ensures that the village is completely free of any cars. There is one main historical attraction in the village, the parish church (Unsere Liebe Frau In Walde), most famous for its Madonna statue. Travellers can get here by flying to Innsbruck Airport, 57 miles from the village. On the other hand, train travellers can alight at nearby Landeck-Zams, just 15 miles from the village centre.
