Introduction to Sankt Gallenkirch, Austria
Tucked away in the far eastern corner of Austria is the beautiful alpine ski village of Sankt Gallenkirch. Part of the larger Montafon Ski Area, the village offers visitors who come in winter dozens of trails for all levels of skier. Sankt Gallenkirch itself is typical of alpine Austrian hamlets. The tiny village core contains a medieval church surrounded by a cluster of buildings and homes that provide much of the options for eating and drinking. Above the village is the modern ski resort, which is linked to the resort of Gaschurn by the Silvretta Nova Pass. Plenty of Sankt Gallenkirch hotels, resorts and chalets line the slopes around the village, catering to winter skiers and summer hikers. While the village itself is very quiet, the surrounding mountains contain hundreds of kilometres of hiking trails, bike paths and other outdoor recreational activities.
