Introduction to Saint Wolfgang, Austria
St Wolfgang is a market town in Upper Austria located the north east shore of Lake Wolfgangsee and is popular all year round as a health resort. As this is a small town there are a limited number of hotels in St Wolfgang and during the winter, rooms can be scarce as many skiers are attracted to the town’s slopes. Opera fans will have heard of the town because Ralph Benatzky based his operetta White Horse Inn on one of the hotels in St Wolfgang. The town is also situated at the foot of Schafberg Mountain and a steam cogwheel train gently transports passengers up the mountainside. The other attraction in the town is the church with a Gothic altarpiece created by Michael Pacher. Due to the shortage of St Wolfgang hotels, many visitors to the lake and mountains opt for accommodation in the nearby towns of Strobl and St Gilgen.other spellings: stwolfgang hotell, st. wolfgang hote, saint wolfgang, wofgang otel, st wolfganhotels
