Introduction to Mittelberg - City Centre

Situated along the River Breitach, surrounded by mountains and stunning landscape, is the Austrian village of Mittelberg. It is part of the Kleinwalsertal valley, a popular spot for skiing and hiking in Central Europe, which can only be accessed through the German village of Oberstdorf, located less than 20kms from the city centre. There are a number of Mittelberg City Centre hotels, which are aimed at skiers and hikers, and tend to fill up during these seasons. There is also a great selection of restaurants throughout the area, many of which are located within the city centre. As well, these parts of the Alps are known for their deer, and many of the restaurants within the city centre specialise in this treat. The mountains surrounding the village offer some spectacular backgrounds, resulting in some great holiday photographs. Mittelberg is part of Horizon Field, an art installation consisting of 100 life-sized cast iron human statues, located at 2,000 metres above sea level; these can be seen while exploring the village and its surroundings.
