Introduction to Mayrhofen - City Centre
Mayrhofen is a small Austrian town in Zillertal Valley of Tyrol. It lies around an hour from the city of Innsbruck. The town is popular among tourists for the winter and summer sports on offer nearby. The Penkenbahn gondola is located in the city centre and is the only way to get up the mountains from this area. The train station is also in the city centre, and here you can catch connecting trains to other Austrian cities as well as Munich and Milan. The station is extremely busy at weekends as it experiences an influx of skiers. There are Mayrhofen City Centre hotels situated throughout the town, literally on every street, and nearly all have rooms for storing guests' ski equipment. There are a number of good sport stores in the centre which sell all the mountain equipment you will need as well as discount multi-brand stores that sell high street brands. Like most popular ski resorts, Mayrhofen has an abundance of restaurants, cafes and bars for visitors to choose from.
