Klagenfurt is the capital of Carinthia in Austria. To the north and the south lie mountain ranges making this a popular destination and there is a great selection of hotels in Klagenfurt for those wanting more comfort than lodge-style accommodation. The annual summer festival, Magic of the Old City (Altstadtzauber), brings the city centre to life with many events to entertain all ages. Klagenfurt hotels can get a little busy around this time. In the Old City is Old Square (Alter Platz) made up of Renaissance buildings with arcaded courtyards. Other attractions include the Baroque cathedral, Viktring Abbey and numerous parks, stately homes and castles. The city is on the eastern edge of Lake Wrthersee.
