Introduction to Innsbruck - Seefeld in Tirol
Seefeld in Tirol is an Alpine village in northwest Austria, around 10kms from the city of Innsbruck. It has good transport links, with a rail station on the Innsbruck to Garmisch-Partenkirchen line and the E60 motorway skirting the south side of the village. The village itself is a pleasing location with open plazas and charming architecture. The landmark St Oswald's Church is a lovely Gothic structure with colourful frescoes. A former Augustinian monastery is now one of several Seefeld in Tirol hotels. The region's primary draw is its location in the Alps and the diversity of outdoor activities available for visitors. The 2,370m high Reither Spitze mountain offers downhill skiing during the winter season and has cable car access. The views from the mountain top are spectacular. There are a number of marked cross-country ski trails around the region. During summer, the area is frequented by hikers and climbers alike.
