Introduction to Innsbruck - Igls
Igls is a quaint Tyrolean village situated five kilometres south of Innsbruck, in western Austria. The village, which is part of the Olympia SkiWorld network, is located adjacent to the 2,250m high Patscherkofel downhill skiing resort. There are also cross-country ski trails around the village. In summer, the area is a major draw for hikers and mountaineers alike. Among other activities are golf, horseback riding and mountain biking. Igls hotels are comfortable base for people wanting to enjoy these activities. Igls can be easily reached as it is on Innsbruck's tram network and is close to the E45 Brenner Pass route from Innsbruck to northern Italy. The village has good infrastructure, with a conference centre and a diverse selection of restaurants and shops. Cosy village bars change from apres-ski venues in winter to open-air cafés in summer. Austrian staples such as Wiener schnitzel and apfelstrudel are on restaurant menus. There are several spas here which offer treatments that leave people feeling rejuvenated, as does the fresh Alpine air. Visit our Innsbruck Travel Guide
