Introduction to Hallein, Austria
Situated to the south of Salzburg, the city of Hallein is a popular destination for its historical significance. It is home to about 20,000 people, and is the second-largest settlement located within the state of Salzburg. The city rests upon the banks of the Salzach River, which meanders right through the centre of the city. There are several stunning Hallein hotels located throughout the heart of the settlement, within walking distance to many of the city's main landmarks. The Celtic Museum, which is locally known as Keltenmuseum, is situated on the western bank of the Salzach River and is home to many interesting historical artefacts dating back thousands of years. In addition, another worthy site is Stadt Park, which is found across from the Celtic Museum, on the eastern side of the river. The Stille-Nacht Museum is less popular among tourists, but is still a great place to spend an hour or so.
