Introduction to Gerlos, Austria
The town of Gerlos is a municipality in the Austrian province of Tyrol, in the western panhandle of the country. It is found within the district of Schwaz, and is home to several thousand people. The town sits upon Highway 165, which connects the municipality to other main cities including Zell am Ziller in the west and Mittersill in the east. There is no train line that runs to the town, and the closest airport serving the area is in the neighbouring district of Salzburg. The town is only small, and is mainly popular because of the wonderful skiing resorts found on the slopes of the surrounding valleys. There are several Gerlos hotels in the township's centre and in the Gerlos ski resort zones.
