Introduction to Bad Ischl - City Centre
Bad Ischl is an Austrian spa town which lies in the southern region of Upper Austria and has a population of just fewer than 14,000. The Traun River meanders through the city centre, with the famous Kaiservilla, where Emperor Franz Joseph spent his summers, located just to the north of the river. Guided tours of the villa are available, and much of the villa still has an authentic feel, and there is still a signed copy of the declaration of WWI on display. Bad Ischl City Centre hotels and spas are located on both sides of the river and there is plenty of choice, with many of the establishments being four or five-star rated. The city centre also has a number of nice restaurants with authentic Austrian and Italian food on offer, and several coffee houses.
